An introduction to art therapy, its history and the diversity of its modes of intervention. This session invites parents and children to experience art therapy with parent-child dyads. It addresses parents experiencing challenging relationships and attachment issues.

Pierre Plante is a full professor in the humanistic section of the psychology department at the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM). He is author/co-author of nearly a hundred professional communications, including scientific articles, conferences and workshops. He is clinical and teaching interests include art therapy, art psychotherapy, dyad intervention, creativity, phenomenology and the therapeutic relationship. With the help of doctoral students and other researchers, he directs several research projects in these fields, in collaboration with various organizations in the Montreal area. For several years, he has been working on the creation of a new art therapy program in Canada, a doctorate in psychology combining both the professional training of a psychologist and the integration of an art therapy specialization.
